Feast your eyes on new doors from Marvin, PGT and more.

This article first appeared in the CB March 2008 issue of Custom Builder.

Where Did It Go?

Pocket doors are a cool idea, and an easier way to integrate them into the walls is with Johnson Hardware's 2610F Wall Mount Hardware. No close fitting is required, and the hardware can be readily adapted for unusual installations or in tight spaces. The hardware can even support solid core doors up to 125 pounds. Click here for more information.

Eternally Yours

With the release of the Eterna, a simulated woodgrain finish, PGT now has the warmth of wood in low-maintenance aluminum frames. The finish is available on select WinGuard impact-resistant windows and doors, which are marketed particularly toward coastal areas. Five woodgrains are offered: acacia, cherry, light oak, dark oak and dark walnut. Click here for more information.

In the Zone

The Zone-3-rated Marvin Entry Doors are made for tough weather conditions and coastal areas. Part of the company's StormPlus line, the doors come standard with a concealed multi-point lock. They are offered in several configurations: single door, double door, single door with two sidelites and single door with one sidelite. Click here for more information.

We Don't Like Cleaning Blinds Either

It's a good bet homeowners won't mind not having to clean their blinds. Plastpro's new line of fiberglass entry doors with built-in mini-blinds are available in a variety sizes and feature the company's Hydroshield technology. The flush-glazed design features door panels and window frames that are even with the door surface for a more modern look. Click here for more information.

Elegant Amulet

The Doorglass series from ODL Architectural Elements features elegant glass designs set off by the company's distinctive fluted moldings and corner medallions. The Amulet style features hammered glass, clear bevels and chinchilla glass. Six additional styles are available. Click here for more information.

Ultra Ultrex

Made from an extremely hardy pultruded fiberglass material, the All-Ultrex sliding patio door from Integrity is a low-maintenance option that features factory-applied jamb extensions and a drywall return for installation flexibility. A special folding nailing fin makes the job even easier. The doors come in standard sizes up to eight feet and are made in stone white, pebble gray, bronze, cashmere and evergreen. Click here for more information.

Colorado Dreamin'

A unique partnership between CGI and Decoral has produced the Aspen Collection of simulated wood grain finishes. The Decoral system applies precise multi-color designs and patterns to aluminum surfaces to produce an authentic wood-grain look. The finish is backed by a five-year warranty (three years in coastal areas). Click here for more information.

Light Up the Room

Fiberglass offerings from Therma-Tru are some of the baddest, toughest doors out there. The company's new line of impact-rated products include the Lip-Lite impact glass. Available for the 6'8" and 8-foot doors, the Lip-Lite patterns are made of aluminum in an attractive scrolled frame design. Click here for more information.
