Green Building Professionals Get a New Link

Here is a Web site that serves as a networking tool and resource for building and design professionals committed to sustainable home construction and remodeling.

Momentum for green is building, and there’s one more link in the chain.  Green Building Blocks is a new website that debuted May 21. The site is intended as a networking tool and resource for building and design professionals committed to sustainable home construction and remodeling.

The November issue of Professional Builder featured an article about VerdeEnergy.com - a free online Web site that matches pre-screened green professionals with customers who provide their project information through an online survey. Users receive competitive bids from up to four contractors in their area who will contact them personally about their project.

Green Building Blocks is geared towards facilitating networking among green professionals, indexed by specialty and by region, allowing them to "showcase their work, discover green products and find green partners," says Patti Purcell, co-founder and president of Blue Egg Inc., the new media company that is launching the Web site.  “Green Building Blocks makes it easy to keep an eye on national trends while also staying on top of the latest regional practices."

Through a partnership with Building Green, Inc., the site will feature more than 1,900 environmentally preferred residential building products with links to manufacturers and explanations of what makes a product green.

There’s an “ideas and answers” section where users can ask experts questions, look up solutions, watch videos, and read case studies that shed light on the green building process.  The reference section details certification programs, climate regions, building specialties, and the like.  There’s also a national green building events calendar.

Take a look and tell us what you think about the usefulness of this new site in making green building more accessible and advancing the green building cause.
