🎅Home Alone House, Then and Now
The iconic Georgian from the "Home Alone" franchise sold in 2025 for a reported $5.5 million. But fans of the film were aghast at the changes: the home's vibrant colors and patterns and cozy layout had been replaced with contemporary white walls and an open floorplan. But, as it happens, the new owners are reportedly fans of the movie and are currently restoring the home to its 1990s charm. All eyes on Kevin's house in 2026.
Cold-Weather Gear for Alaska Flood Recovery
Insulated workwear manufacturer RefrigiWear donated $18,000 in cold-weather gear to support Western Alaska's recovery from catastrophic flooding caused by Typhoon Halog in early October. The donation protects families and recovery workers rebuilding in extreme cold. "These are some of the toughest working conditions anywhere," says Leigh Stadelmeier, a VP with the firm.
Beyond Smart Locks: Intelligent Wood Door Debuts
US Door & More and home intelligence partner Doma are debuting wood doors with embedded technology: sensors, connectivity, and controls built in during manufacturing, rather than added on. The companies position it as a new category beyond smart locks, transforming the entry into an "active, responsive part of the home." Debuts at IBS in February.
