John Leggett left his job as an investment banker in the oil and gas industry in 2005 and founded On Point Custom Homes, a luxury home builder in Houston.
The North Carolina native essentially was following a family calling--his mother was a real estate agent and his father, a former airline pilot, began remodeling homes and then built new construction before finally getting into commercial development. Leggett started with two people out of his home and the mobile office, an SUV from which he would write checks at jobsites around town. A decade later he employs a dozen people inside a modern office in the Galleria area. The spec and custom home builder was ranked for the first time on the Houston Business Journal's Fast 100 List, which recognizes the fastest growing companies in Houston based on two-year revenue growth.
