Chicago-based homebuilder Weiss Building & Development is rebranding and changing its name to Evolutionary Home Builders.

The company built the first certified Passive House in the Chicago area, and founder Brandon Weiss has long been a proponent of sustainable home building methods. The new name more aptly reflects the 9-year-old company’s standing among the leaders in the green building sphere and underscores its commitments to home building strategies that consistently evaluate performance, indoor air quality and other qualifications that make a home more durable and long lasting.

“Simply put, the type of homes we’re envisioning and building are the smartest homes out there,” says Weiss. “Evolutionary Home Builders is more than a new company name; it’s a forward-thinking model intended to break the boundaries of what’s possible in sustainable home building.”

The name change was accompanied by moving from the builder’s former location in South Elgin, Ill., to a storefront and office space in downtown Geneva that will be a hub for planning and designing cutting-edge, state-of-the-art, healthy homes. The space includes a retail space dubbed the Evolutionary Home and stocked with organic home goods, bedding, and other products that are healthy, energy efficient, and sustainable. The location also includes a design studio featuring a kitchen constructed with green materials, custom-made furniture, reclaimed wood flooring, and sustainable products such as high performance European windows. The space and brand services will emulate Evolutionary Home Builders’ four main initiatives: healthy homes, building science, energy efficiency and sustainability.
