Nothing brings up feelings of fairy tale romanticism about a home quite like a turret. With a soaring roofline and endless natural light, it is very easy to fall in love with a well done turret. In this plan the turret becomes a space within a space that is used for retreat. Let’s take a closer look:

A. The turret becomes a place to read, nap, or just relax. The high ceiling and form ensures this space will feel anything but ordinary.

B. A generous Family Entrance with lockers and cubbies helps keep the family organized.

C. A large Great Room connected to the informal Dining Room and Kitchen creates a great space for entertaining or for keeping up with the Kardashians.

D. A rear covered porch brings the outside in.

E. Two story Kitchen provides a unique twist to this plan. This also allows the stairway to have full railing all the way to the second floor.

F. The stairway is centralized in the plan and is family friendly as its placement is convenient to day to day living.

G. Generous Owner’s Bath eliminates the soaking tub and opts for an oversized two headed shower. A window is placed over the vanity counter to bring in natural light.

H. An overlook to the Kitchen creates plenty of drama where the day to day living is done.

I. The Owner’s deck is a great spot to relax in the evening.

J. Placing the Bedrooms over the Garage takes advantage of stackable space and helps to keep costs in line.

So if like Julia Roberts in "Pretty Woman" you “want the fairy tale,” consider designing a turret room into your home. They can be costly, however, the spatial and aesthetic impact it will give a home is well worth it.
