Reads for the Long Weekend
Happy July! With a shorter week for many, here are a handful of stories worth catching up on.
This week, we're introducing our first Builder in 5 with a landscape design professional. We're expanding our outdoors coverage, so if you've completed a project you're especially proud of, I'd love to hear about it.
We're also featuring a case study on the conversion of an underused garage into an ADU, a project type the design-build firm behind it says is showing up more.
And a story worth your attention: an often-overlooked source of new business: luxury real estate brokers who're introducing clients to builders before the design process even begins.
If you missed them, a few recent stories worth a Fourth of July read: the restoration of Fallingwater, Wright's most celebrated (and demanding) American work; our feature on the dogtrot house, a 200-year-old Southern form with an open center hall that catches cross breezes; and our roundup of American-made products for your next project.
Have a safe Fourth.

P.S. Worth a look: Norman Rockwell’s “Waiting for the President” series, recently acquired by the White House Historical Association for $7.25 million, is on public view for the first time. The black-and-white sketches against the classic Rockwell colors have a surprisingly modern feel.
