Custom Tiles Bring Images to Life
This backsplash was created using 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 satin hard-coat ceramic tile.
Bring the feel of Tuscany to your kitchen or Hawaiian waterfalls to your bathroom with Images In Tile's custom tile murals.
Images from your photo album, from IIT's collection of images on its Web site, www.imagesintile.com, or from the many royalty-free image sites on the Internet, some of which are linked from the IIT Web site, can be reproduced on a single decorative tile or as a full-blown mural of any size.
Creating these murals involves printing the photo onto a carrier paper using sublimation dyes. The tiles are placed atop the printouts and then put into a heat press at 400 degrees. The molecules from the dyes turn into a gas, which allows them to penetrate the tile. During the cooling process, that gas turns back into a solid and imprints permanently onto the tile. Tiles can be cleaned with glass or multipurpose cleaner.
Each mural comes with an installation grid map that follows a numbering system, with each number of the grid matching a number on the back of the tile. A limited supply of replacement tiles is available for free, though shipping for those tiles is not included. While nine types of tile are available, others can be used, but IIT must test them first. Sand-free or silicone grout caulking should be used to prevent scratching.
These tiles can be used in a fireplace, on a kitchen or bathroom backsplash or in a swimming pool. For more information, call 303/922-4007.
