Technology Opens Door to Customization
Creating a custom interior door is eased with DoorCraft's Gold Coast Series, which uses computerized router technology to quickly create door designs that extend as far as the consumer's imagination.
"Any design a consumer can imagine, we can create," says Jim Hackett, director of marketing for Jeld-Wen's door group. "The design can literally be drawn on a cocktail napkin, brought into the dealer, and the design is signed off from there. We can provide options for any decor."
The series also offers 70 pre-designed choices. The doors come in primed or unprimed finishes and in heights of 6 feet, 8 inches; 7 feet; and 8 feet.
"These doors have a more elegant look than a molded door, yet are in a price category and have performance features that make them superior to a stile-and-rail product’s cost and performance," says Hackett. "Because this is a one-piece-face MDF [medium-density fiberboard] door, the panels won't shrink with temperature changes. It's very stable and still has the distinct look of a true stile-and-rail door."
