Smart home technology continues to be a priority for homeowners looking to make everyday life easier and more streamlined.
At this month's CES in Las Vegas, industry professionals saw the latest innovations, including a wide range of solutions tailored for residential applications. Here are some smart home highlights from the show that you can use to streamline your next project.
Samsung Bespoke Laundry Hub
The Samsung Bespoke AI Laundry Hub takes the guesswork out of laundry. A seven-inch LCD display delivers personalized cycle recommendations, while the company's AI-powered OptiWash+ and AI OptiDry+ technologies sense fabric type, soil level, and moisture to optimize performance for every load. Additionally, the Super Speed Cycle completes a full load in just 60 minutes, according to Samsung. The Flex Auto Dispense system holds enough detergment for up to 34 loads, or flexibly dispenses between detergent and softener compartments for up to 20 loads each.
Wildfire Defense System From Sonic Fire Tech
With recent high-profile wildfires in California and other regions raising homeowner concerns, the Sonic Fire Tech Home Wildfire Defense System is hoping to address some of the risk.
The system uses patented sonic fire suppression technology that detects early wildfire threats and deploys low-frequency acoustic waves to neutralize embers—the leading cause of wildfire-related home loss—before ignition occurs.
VOVO Smart Toilet
VOVO’s Smart Toilet not only brings a more hygienic approach to personal care, it is also meant to enable more independent living for those with limited mobility. The toilet features automatic lid operation, flushing, and bidet functions. An integrated monitoring system alerts designated family members if the toilet has not been used for eight to 10 hours, an important feature for those living alone or caring for aging relatives.
Among the numerous health functions are a urine-analysis sensor that displays real-time health data on a wall-mounted monitor in the bathroom.
Lockin Smart Locks
The Lockin Smart Lock uses AI technology to streamline homeowner access while also maintaining home security. Users can unlock the door through touch, password, app, or mechanical key, a process Lockin says takes just 0.17 seconds with 99.9% accuracy.
While using advanced technology, the smart lock keeps humans at the center of its design, with dual five-inch touchscreens displaying an AI persona. The inner screen supports live video, two-way calls, weather updates, memos, and family notes. The lock also features advanced care features for elderly users, triggering alarms, voice alerts, emergency calls, and distance tracking if someone with cognitive impairment leaves home alone.
Pila Mesh Home Battery
The Pila Mesh Home Battery energy storage system is a plug-in battery platform that provides homeowners with intelligent energy management. Each 1.6 kWh unit installs through a standard outlet and connects through a patented mesh network to coordinate power across multiple units. Scalable from a single module to hundreds, the system provides backup power, appliance-level monitoring, and advanced load management for homes, multifamily properties, and small commercial sites.
Designed with infrastructure-grade components, including safe lithium iron phosphate batteries, bidirectional power electronics, and edge AI, Pila integrates with solar, smart meters, and grid signals to optimize energy use.
