Green tax credits about to expire

Homeowners looking to save a little green while making their home more environmentally friendly can still cash in on 2010 tax rebates, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

Homeowners looking to save a little green while making their home more environmentally friendly can still cash in on 2010 tax rebates, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

Even though 2011 is almost here, buyers can save up to $1,500 in tax credits when they purchase Energy Star-certified storm windows and doors. If the windows or doors are installed by the end of 2010, homeowners can claim up to 30% of the cost, up to $1,500.

Additionally, owners can take advantage of another federal tax credit on a solar water heater system. However, homeowners need not act now, since this credit doesn’t end until 2016.
